Top 10 Free SEO Tools

The best free SEO tools I use daily for my SaaS

Do you need paid SEO tools?

I'll be honest.

If you're just starting with SEO and you only need to do the simple stuff like keyword research then free tools will do just fine.

They provide you with accurate data (if you choose the correct tools)

And they don't put a hole inside your wallet.

Here's the best free tools I have used so far.

(stick till the end because some of them are crazy valuable)

Ahrefs free tools family

Ahrefs wants to get more people to their paid service so they offer free tools.

Great thing about these tools is that they are accurate. (data comes from Ahrefs themselves)

I find that they're one of the best:

1. Keyword Generator

Link: here

I can't overstate how useful this one actually is. I visit this website almost every day.

It has two primary uses:

  1. Checking keyword volume and difficulty

  2. Coming up with long tail keyword ideas

Just enter a keyword and it'll give you the metrics and everything:

I usually use this in combination with ChatGPT

generate list of keyword ideas -> check volume and difficulty with keywords generator

2. Website Authority Checker

Link: here

Another goated tool from Ahrefs.

It allows you to check the domain authority of any website:

This one is especially useful when doing link building.

You can see what backlinks got acquired by your competitor and adjust your approach.

It's pretty similar to the previous tool but with more detail:

Other tools (besides Ahrefs)

There's endless other tools I use when it comes to keyword researching, content planning, etc.

Here's a few I found really useful:

4. AlsoAsked

Link: here

You know how it's hard to consistently come up with content ideas for your blog right?

This tool can really help you out.

Just enter a parent topic and it'll give you a visual map of questions and keywords related to this main topic.

Create a blog post for each and you're golden.

5. RedditInsights

Link: here

New tool, released a couple of weeks ago. (from what I know)

You upload a list of subreddits and it returns back to you with all the questions people ask.

Brilliant opportunity for blog content. If there's people actively asking this question then you'll get traffic to your blog.

One might also look at this as a market validation tool.

You can uncover the pain points of your ideal customers pretty fast.

6. Screaming frog

Link: here

Audits websites with less than 500 pages for free.

It helps you find:

  • duplicate content

  • broken links

  • missing meta tags

and many other SEO optimization factors...

All it takes is to enter your website URL and it'll start crawling and looking for problems.

7. KeywordsEverywhere

Poor man's version of Ahrefs and Semrush

Probably my most favorite tool for SEO research.

It's a browser extension that shows you the metrics right as you search, like this:

While this tool is not 100% free (because the free tier is limited)

It's crazy cheap like 2-6$/mo

Highly recommend.

8. AnswerThePublic

Link: here

Similar to AlsoAsked but even more detailed.

Enter your parent topic and it'll spit out hundreds of keywords including:

  • comparisons

  • prepositions

As well as this, it gives you the metrics like search volume and CPC.

LLMs I actively use

I know that LLMs don't exactly fit the SEO tool category.

But there's many available for free that I use daily to write content.

9. DeepSeek V3

Link: here

You might be asking "Why not DeepSeek R1?"

Good question.

DeepSeek R1 is good for solving logical problems but it doesn't shine in creative writing.

Another problem with R1 is that it fills up it's context with reasoning and becomes very lazy when writing the blog post.

10. Qwen 2.5 Max

Link: here

Outperforms DeepSeek in some cases.

Capable of writing 1800 word blog posts.

I recommend testing this out for yourself.
