How to Outrank Competitors by Creating Better Help Pages

Underrated SEO strategy used by big tech companies

Why this method is so effective

This strategy is so effective even the big fintech companies like Wise use it.

They use it because these visitors are likely to purchase and switch to their product.

I'll show you how it works in action.

PayPal vs Wise

Direct competitors.

PayPal help pages sucked and Wise realised this.

They took action first and improved all of their support pages and posted them to their website.

The traffic they got from this?

Insane.

But traffic alone doesn't pay the bills.

So they place big CTAs like this throughout the page:

And they make themselves look a bit better than PayPal, but—

Without defaming them.

They keep the approach respectful.

1. Make a list of your competitors

Without knowing who your competitors are, it'll be impossible to do.

So list out a your real main competitors who already have a big customer base.

I don't want you to attempt stealing traffic from people who have no traffic.

That's pointless.

2. Look at their help pages

Take some time and look at their:

  • Documentation

  • Support pages

  • Tutorials

See where their content lacks and could be easily improved.

You'll find that most companies have horrible help pages.

Write all of them down.

3. Improve and publish

Start going through your list and writing your own version of the page.

Don't copy them, actually make it better and easier to consume for the customer.

Add all of these help pages to your website.

And that's about all it takes.

Now just track the ranking of the pages and Google will start ranking it higher if the content is actually better.

Sometimes you'll have to do manual improvements to keep yourself at #1 spot.

Especially if they start catching up.

So keep hold of your list and go through the pages every month to see how things are going.
